Dear Maxine Waters and the Democratic Party, You Don't Own Black Men not Our Voting Choices!

By Rico Rivers https://thegrio.com/2020/10/31/maxine-waters-criticizes-black-trump-voters/ This is has to stop!! How can black Democrats be mad at Black men who have left and who are continuing to leave the Democratic plantation? Who does #MaxineWaters think she is? She is not a voice for black men! She has never been a voice for black men! She has been a member of that Coonin Bootlickin Carcass for decades now and black progress has yet to come from that group of OLD incompetent farts. She is the latest to have the nerve to attack black men as a group for the increase in their support for Trump. Who in the hell told black Democratic politicians, gays, women, and white liberal Democrats that they OWNED Black men and the rights to black men's voting choices? The arrogance of it all is astounding to say the least. I have sat and read blog article after blog article, face book post after face book post, disparaging the growing support that Trump is receiving from Black men as well ...

The Greatest Pain I've Ever Felt: The Conversation with my Absent biological father who never wanted to be found.

The Greatest Pain I Had Ever Felt occurred over 25 years ago while I was still a student at Grambling State University. I will never forget the night that changed everything for me. I remember I was working nights, after class, at the university’s health center in the cleaning department as a work-study student in Grambling State University’s student work-study program to earn extra money to pay for books, food and other living expenses. I liked working there because when I would go on breaks, I would casually slip into one of the nurse’s offices and talk on the phone while my supervisor would be in the break room eating and talking with the nurses who were working the night shift. Well, on this particular night, I discovered that I could make long distance phone calls courtesy of the university health center. The first person I called was my favorite aunt Patricia who lived in Dallas. We started our conversation with me sharing about how things were going for me at college. Then, I a...

I'm Still Kool With Kanye'

" I’m still Kool with Kanye’"     Dear Brotha Kanye’, Man, you have been pissing people off, well black people, for the past few years with your controversial perspectives on life, politics and history. You hugging President Trump in the White House while sporting the infamous red MAGA hat only added gasoline to the already blazing inferno of harsh criticisms from Black America. Yeah, your name has not been Kanye West for quite a few years now. The name on your proverbial birth certificate has experienced many changes to say the least. You have been known as coon, sambo, sell-out and most recently mentally ill. All of these unauthorized name changes given to you because of a difference in perspective on t...

Your Vote is Actually Your Right! 2/23/2020

Your vote is actually your right! -- Rico Rivers @Ricotheopinionist    YouTube/Twitter/IG Before blacks in this country had the right to vote, WE made economic and educational moves that yielded major progress in this country for many of us individually, but especially as a group. We somehow still became doctors, lawyers, college professors, engineers, business owners and home owners. Hell, a few of us even opened up colleges and universities for our kids to attend and be educated. What's more, when we did not have the legal right to vote, WE unified organized, and FUNDED the movement that led to the right to vote. So, what happened? That's a long answer, I'm sure. However, WE (black Americans) fought for the right to vote and have been voting religiously since 1965 or 55 years ago. Every election cycle we remind each other robotically, "Hey, our people fought and died for you to have the right the vote." Hell, even people who aren't black have jum...

Open Letter to Governor Greg Abbott

Office of the Governor Governor Greg Abbott P.O. Box 12428 Austin, Texas 78711-2428 Dear Governor Abbott: I have written to express my deep disappointment and dismay at your recent display of overt favoritism from the Governor’s office in the recent Shelly Luther salon debacle here in the city of Dallas. I would like to inform you of what I witnessed as a fellow Texan and what the country witnessed as fellow Americans last week during the Shelley Luther situation where she was completely wrong and totally out of line for deliberately violating the Texas Supreme Court’s stay-at-home-order mandate of closing non-essential businesses as a safety precaution to us residents in the state of Texas and who also violated your very own stay-at-home executive order. Shelley Luther violated the stay-at-home executive order supposedly in the name of “feeding her kids,” which still remains to be seen as the entire truth. She showed outright disrespect to your state wide executive ord...

Goodbye, Candace Owens!!

Image
# CandaceOwens I understood your message of encouraging blacks to leave the Democratic plantation from your Conservative platform and organization called # TurningPoint . I also understand your far right political leanings, which is certainly not against the law. You've articulated your pros and cons as it relates to the unbalanced relationship between blacks and the liberal left and I agreed with your arguments.  However, this latest premature and irresponsible rant in the recent murder of # AhmaudArbery among other things, have caused me to adjust my " benefit of the doubt" meter when it comes to your so called "telling it like it is" style of presenting what you believe are facts. Granted. None if us are beyond or above critique. However, I've always found it very interesting that you and many other avowed # BlackConservatives rarely, if ever, share scathing critiques about WHITE conservatives. White cops who murder unarmed black males or anyone ...

Bring an End to Child Support NOW!! My letter to state lawmakers.

Dear State Legislator: I hope this letter has reached you in great health and in great spirits. I have written to share with you my thoughts on the current child support laws. I am a single man with no children. So my thoughts may appear odd being that I am not a father. However, I am still a man and as a man I have to say that I am not happy at all with how single men are treated so criminally under the current child support laws in your state. I think the current laws are unfair, sexist and biased against men. There have been times in the past when I have had thoughts about having children, but those thoughts quickly left my mind whenever I pictured the reality of a woman being able to and at the drop of a hat, potentially ruin my life with one phone call to the Family Services Division of Juvenile Court. Sadly, this usually occurs when she gets upset with the single man that she has allowed to impregnate her. The stories are endless of men being railroaded into the criminal jus...
